Jadeja achieved this milestone in the Super Four match against Sri Lanka at the Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday. He took two wickets with 33 runs in the match. The Indian left-arm spinner has taken 24 wickets in 18 innings, surpassing Irfan Pathan's 22 scalps in 12 innings.
Kuldeep Yadav is also on the run with 19 wickets in nine innings. Overall, Jadeja is the fifth highest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup. Muthiah Muralidaran tops the list with 30 scalps in 24 innings.
India's bowling attack combined to end Sri Lanka's 13-match ODI unbeaten run and seal their place in the Asia Cup 2023 final with a game to spare, as the hosts were bowled out for 172 at the R Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday.
While the spinners on both sides dominated the game, the pacers also played a role in India's 41-run win over the co-hosts.
Earlier in the game, belligerent Dunith Wellalage and Charith Asalanka helped Sri Lanka bundle out the Men in Blue for 213 through India's top order.
Youngster Wellaz achieved a remarkable feat as he claimed his first 5 wickets, single-handedly demolishing a strong Indian batting lineup and taking wickets of top batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya.
