Assam aims to invest 40,000 crore in semiconductor industry



“We are in great discussions… We are competing with three states, counting Gujarat and Orissa, and we trust to realize a breakthrough,” Chief Serve Himanta Biswa Sarma said. 


 Guwahati : The Assam government  said it hopes to see an investment  of ₹ 40,000 crore in the semiconductor industry and a new policy has been formulated for the purpose.“We are in great discussions… We are competing with three states, counting Gujarat and Orissa, and we trust to attain a breakthrough,” Chief Serve Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

“The state government has approved Assam Gadgets (Semiconductors etc.) Policy 2023,” the Chief Serve added.
 
 Earlier, the Assam cabinet had approved productivity-related incentives for the sector.



 Advanced states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Orissa have announced pro-semiconductor policies. We have announced a policy to support capital investment. With our new production-linked incentive policy, Assam will soon attract investments for semiconductor manufacturing in the state,” the Chief Minister said. 

 "We have  positive vibes. Thanks to the clean and pure water of the Brahmaputra river, many industrialists have shown interest. For the semiconductor industry, clean water is essential. Many people wonder if we whether there is a policy or not. Today we passed the policy." and we have positive vibes. I have a lot of hope,” Mr. Sarma added.
