Assam aims to invest 40,000 crore in semiconductor industry

Guwahati : The Assam government said it hopes to see an investment of ₹ 40,000 crore in the semiconductor industry and a new policy has been formulated for the purpose.“We are in great discussions… We are competing with three states, counting Gujarat and Orissa, and we trust to attain a breakthrough,” Chief Serve Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
“The state government has approved Assam Gadgets (Semiconductors etc.) Policy 2023,” the Chief Serve added.
Earlier, the Assam cabinet had approved productivity-related incentives for the sector.
Advanced states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Orissa have announced pro-semiconductor policies. We have announced a policy to support capital investment. With our new production-linked incentive policy, Assam will soon attract investments for semiconductor manufacturing in the state,” the Chief Minister said.
